The Faerman Family Bat Mitzvah

The Faerman family of Boca Raton, FL, celebrated their daughter Sami’s very special Bat Mitzvah Valentine’s Day Weekend 2016. Although Sami was born with Down syndrome, she did not let it stand in the way of becoming a Bat Mitzvah. After attending her cousin’s Bat Mitzvah years before, she was determined to work hard, study and have a Bat Mitzvah of her own. Sami practiced her portion for over eight months and on Valentine’s Day Weekend 2016, Sami taught the world that with perseverance and dedication, anything is possible! Sami’s celebration was a true mitzvah in every sense of the word.

About six months before Sami’s Bat Mitzvah, thanks to David Ockman and the South Florida Bar and Bat Mitzvah Facebook Group, the Faerman family met with Chad Everett of Galaxy Productions regarding décor. Chad absolutely fell in love with Sami! Not only was she loving and smart, she was funny, outgoing and so much fun. Chad wanted to produce an event that she would never forget. After discovering that the celebration was planned for the weekend of Valentine’s Day, he insisted on donating the décor and entertainment for this incredible, love filled celebration. The Faerman family was in shock!

Not only did Chad generously donate the décor for the celebration, many of South Florida’s other top vendors soon joined in. A few days after meeting with Chad, Sami’s mom Roni received a phone call from Aaron Lurie from VMA Studios. Aaron wanted to be part of this amazing celebration and insisted on gifting the photos from the service, party and pre-mitzvah photo shoot. Roni was in absolute shock and was crying so hard that Aaron could not understand her. Once Aaron met Sami, he fell in love with her energy, personality and sense of humor and knew this was going to be a celebration he would never forget.

To complete the Mitzvah Dream Team, Amy Kratish jumped on the opportunity to make Sami’s weekend complete. Amy donated an incredible montage that Sami’s guests loved and will be cherished forever.

The love and generosity of the above vendors, showed what an incredible community Sami and her family live in.

Fast forward six months to the most important part … Sami.

Sami’s service was held in her home in front of her immediate family members, including her parents Roni and David and siblings Ethan and Bari. Sami’s mom Roni knew how important this day was to Sami and wanted to make the service as comfortable as possible. Sami’s tutor Jennifer Young performed the service. Sami was incredible and did not miss a beat. There was not a dry eye in the house. Since the remaining Bat Mitzvah guests were not part of the service, the service was videotaped by Rob of Front Line Video and portions were played for the party guests. Everyone agreed that Sami did an amazing job!

The party’s theme was Love Sami and was held at B’nai Israel in Boca Raton, FL. When guests arrived they saw the amazing décor and spectacular lighting, donated by Galaxy. Every little detail was thought of. The room was filled with pink, red, hearts and lots of sparkle. The gorgeous centerpieces were filled with beautiful roses. Hearts and Sami’s logo were projected on the wall. Photos from Sami’s pre-mitzvah shoot were hung over the bar. An elegant teen area was a huge hit with the kids. A slide show of photos from Sami’s pre-mitzvah shoot, which was donated by VMA, ran on a screen all night.

Sami wore a sparkly pink dress and custom bling Converse sneakers that perfectly matched her theme.

For her sign in board, Freddie the Artist from Art Spot Airbrush put Sami’s logo on her bedroom door. Guests used sharpies to leave special notes.

Sami was carried into the room on a palanquin carried by the entertainers at Galaxy.

Sami’s candle lighting included thirteen candles. The display was created by Galaxy. Sami did an amazing job reading the cards and lighting the candles. Candles were lit by her immediate family, her five BFFs and her friends.

The challah was even a heart shape.

DJ Steve Levy and Lawrence Newberg both from Galaxy kept the dance floor packed all night and at the end of the night no one wanted to leave. Lawrence was so kind and sweet to Sami and she danced the entire night. Guests enjoyed heart shaped boppers, heart bracelets and necklaces, glow stuff, hats and iTunes cards for dance floor giveaways and prizes.

Sami and her dad David enjoyed a special daddy daughter dance.

Sami’s friends received t-shirts, pillows or boxer shorts which were airbrushed by Freddie at Artspot. Artspot also did air brush tattoos, which were a huge hit. Michael Jackson Photography did a great job taking photos with a step and repeat background and guests were able to email pictures to themselves or post them on social media.

The food was delicious! VIP Caterers served fantastic appetizers and five different dinner stations for the adults, including pasta, Chinese, Mexican, carved Chateaubriand and sushi. The kids loved the delicious buffet that featured many delicious choices. The desserts were amazing! They arrived flaming and were decorated with pink and red hearts. There was everything you could think of – eclairs, cookies, chocolate covered Twinkies, root beer floats, make you own ice cream sundaes, chocolate pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy and a candy bar.

VIP also generously donated the beautiful chairs that were used at Sami’s party.

The Faerman Family had an amazing night that they will never forget!
